You will be forced to sign a contract and they will take 65% of what you bring in. Read that again. You work and work and they take well over half of the money you bring in. I would not recommend anyone working here. Management is not supportive of the staff. Very numbers driven with unattainable goals. They make you sign a non compete contract but several employees have left and started working right away in different salons. Cons Unattainable monthly sales and number goals. I took a chance at working here months ago. Not the smartest decision I've ever made. The lead therapist wasn't aware of me coming in advance. I was poorly trained. For my interview the lady I was to interview with was out sick and no one was made aware of her having an interview with me. I was rushed through the entire process of an interview and training. I wasn't very busy. I felt like a slave and was made to do things other than massage. I cleaned the spa instead of my actual job. I was brought in straight out of school full of excitement and ready to learn and advance in my career as a cosmetologist.

They say they're team players but every month they go over numbers/stats & are put against each other to see who's the "best". However, like any successful business, there are times of rush and times where problem solving skills and stress management are absolutely necessary. Pros Relaxing, spa environment, personal, yet professional relationships with clients Cons commission is relatively low I really enjoyed working for Tuscan Sun Spa, the only reason I do not work there anymore is so that I could further my education. It was a fun, upbeat atmosphere to work in. Tuscan is a great place to work, the environment is very friendly. The company is very productive. This is a fast paced work environment and you have to catch on really quick

Tuscan pays minimum wage with no benefits unless you are employed for over a year. However in the interview they told me I could get benefits after 3 months, that was the first strike. The second strike was the fact that the owner and managers can't handle constructive criticism. They go into their review portal each morning and delete anything under 4 stars to make the business sound much better than it is. Another problem I had was the fact that even if you went in months in advance to request time off, it was a 50/50 chance if you would actually get it. The final strike was when COVID hit, they laid everyone off with no compensation. Then, after they could return to work, the owner called it "vacation time" so no one could use vacation days for a while. Overall, not worth the minimum pay and stressful environment. Pros Slightly discounted spa services Cons Management, Owner, Work Environment, No Short Term Benefits The GM and the owner are not nice people. They will berate you, gossip about you, etc.

I quickly learned it wasn't the dream I was hoping for. Training was mostly lead stylist showing you techniques IF they had time, the older stylist were judgemental and didnt give newer stylist an opportunity to grow. I was given a checklist to complete in order to do hair, and I wasn't able to complete all the required haircuts because I wasn't able to get any volunteers, so they allowed me to nails which I enjoyed but my passion was hair and they killed that dream. Managment choose favoritism and the monthly rewards are a joke you have to sell so much product and hit quoto to even be considered. And If I could do it over I would not have signed the 2 year contract. They only pay for further education for those who benefits the company. Pros Discounts on product and services Cons Management, favortism and lack of team work. Tuscan hired me right out of school. Gave me excellent further education on more advanced modalities. They really care about their customers and workers. They try to build a culture of community and professionalism.

There were times of transition but they handled it with grace and an upbeat manner. I loved working here and will always think of it fondly. Management did not make "reasonable accommodations". I do not suggest this place at all. The contracts are intended to keep you indebted to Tuscan Sun Spa only. Unfriendly people to work with. Too much stress to deal with for minimum wage. There was not a good vibe there at all................................ They really just don't care about new people, you're basically a slave. And if they don't like you they boot you no matter how talented you are. If you don't fit their standards you're out. I worked at the Tuscan in Fairmont for 6 months. When I first started, I loved it. Once they get comfortable with you, it's a different ball game. They don't care about you. The harder you work the more they take advantage. I was more of a cleaning lady & receptionist than a cosmetologist. Any little thing that goes wrong they blame the lowest on the totem poll.
